Dr Sharon Koh
Senior Consultant Colorectal Surgeon

Dr Sharon Koh is a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Colorectal Practice and former Director of Endoscopy at Alexandra Health, National University Health Services. She specialises in colorectal surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and advanced endoscopy.
Dr Koh graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (MBBS) where she also obtained her Masters of Medicine in General Surgery. She completed her advanced surgical training at the National University Hospital (NUH) and Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She obtained her fellowship diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and her accreditation as a specialist in General Surgery.
Awarded the Academic Medicine Development Award (AMDA) by NUH, Dr Koh completed an 18-month fellowship in advanced colorectal surgery, focusing on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, under Professor Phillip R. Fleshner.
She has published several peer-reviewed papers in the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Annals of Surgery journals and presented her research at international conferences. She was also awarded the International Organization of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IOIBD) research grant in 2014.
Dr Koh further honed her endoscopic skills under Professor Hironori Yamamoto in Jichi, Japan, focusing on diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Her expertise spans managing both benign and malignant gastrointestinal lesions, with contributions to academic papers and book chapters.
She is an active member of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons (Singapore) and an international member of the European Society of Coloproctology. She also participated in several GlobalSurg Collaborative cohort studies from 2018 to 2020.
As a former Director of Endoscopy at Alexandra Integrated Health, she played a key role in planning and managing the endoscopy centre from 2018 to 2020. She currently serves as a senior clinical lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Koh has contributed to community outreach through the SOUL (Surgical Outreach for Underprivileged) committee and served on the F1 Grand Prix medical support team (2008-2011). Her involvement in the Ministry of Health’s Value Driven Outcome (VDO) project for haemorrhoidectomy reflects her commitment to delivering holistic, patient-centred care focused on well-being and quality outcomes.
